The second Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) developed by USAID in collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, was organised at Pune during 25th to 29th July, 2016. This program was organised jointly with two SETNET partners located at Pune: World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE) and Arbutus Consultants Ltd. The program is a part of the US-India bilateral Partnership to Advance Clean Energy–Deployment Technical Assistance Program. The venue of the program was YASHADA- the administrative training institute of Government of Maharashtra at Pune.

The number of participants in this program was 57. The participants included young entrepreneurs in solar and related fields and energy professionals planning to start their own business in solar rooftop. During the five days, a total of 19 sessions were organised. The sessions were conducted by experienced professionals having expertise in the relevant areas. The participants also visited a rooftop solar power plant of 110 kW installed at the University of Pune. The program also had a case study approach wherein the participants had the opportunity of making their own presentations on different aspects related to business development. For this purpose, the participants were divided into 6 teams and each team was given a different task for actual rooftop sites and was expected to prepare proposal either for OPEX model or CAPEX model along with full technical details of the proposed systems.

The EDP program was developed by PACE D Technical Assistance Team after detailed consultations with experts in the relevant areas. The training materials thus developed include learners’ manual and standardized presentations that have been handed over to all the participants before the event.

After successful completion of the course, each participant was provided with a certificate of participation.
