If on one hand there is a knowledge-deficit crisis in certain vital areas of sustainable energy and development, on the other hand there is an acute shortage of skills and technical know-how in the field. In the current scenario where markets are demand-driven and technology-specific, there is an urgent need for capacity building and enhancing human resource development. WISE's Centre for Human Resource Development has been created to meet the above objective.

WISE has successfully organised and conducted several training programmes and seminars in accordance with its Training Calendar 2006-07. These include 4 national level programmes on Renewable Energy for Media Persons, sponsored by the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES), Govt. of India, and an Induction Training Programme for Wind Power Professionals. WISE also organised a one-day seminar to discuss the draft Renewable Energy Law for India that it had prepared (the first of its kind in the country), so as to take it to its logical conclusion, viz. adoption by Parliament.

Besides, WISE also successfully participated in various conferences / exhibitions that were held, both at the national and international levels.
