Centre for Climate & Sustainability Policy

 

The Centre for Climate and Sustainability Policy is the only multidisciplinary Centre in India with an integrated perspective and expertise in energy engineering, energy policy, environmental economics, ecology and development. It is responsible for initiating a series of studies and cutting-edge analyses to bring out truths about resource availability and use, its economics from an environmental perspective and proposing timely and right policy perspectives.

CORE ACTIVITIES

Policy Level Research

  • Long-term research into the pricing and externalities in the power sector for creating a level playing field for renewable-based power generation.

  • Resource assessment of conventional and non-conventional fuels to analyse their future potential.

  • Futuristic studies of energy scenarios for ensuring an energy secure future.

  • Vision 2020: integrating renewable energy with all sectors of development.

Policy Advocacy
 

  • Organising and conducting seminars / conferences pertaining to energy policy and sustainability issues.

  • Documenting and propagating international best practices for mainstreaming renewable energy in India.
     


FUTURE DIRECTIONS

 

  • To develop the Centre into a strategic think-tank in the core areas of renewable energy and sustainable development.

  • To generate policy alternatives and scenarios that will integrate renewable energy and sustainable development into a broader societal policy, in the emergent context of global climate change imperatives.

  • To create training inputs and personnel in the emergent areas of renewable energy and sustainable development.
