WISE
in association with Wat-ere-source Technologies Private Limited,
Pune, organised a training programme on ‘Small Hydro Power
Development: Opportunities and Challenges’ at the WISE Training
hall from 29 November–1 December 2010. G M Pillai, founder
Director General, WISE was the Chief Guest at the inaugural
session. Other dignitaries included D S Kulkarni, Managing
Director, Wat-ere source Technologies Private Limited, Pune, and S
G Koli, Chief Engineer (Retd.), Water Resources Department,
Government of Maharashtra.
The programme offered comprehensive information on the
technological and financial aspects, and the policy and regulatory
framework needed to tap the small hydro sector, and also dealt at
length on the issues and barriers in project development.
