ITI Limited inaugurated a 100 kW capacity captive rooftop solar power project in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. This rooftop project has been set up using solar panels, which have been manufactured at ITI’s solar panel manufacturing facility. The 100 kW solar plant is estimated to offset 110 tons of CO2 per year. Solar projects with capacities ranging from 300 kW to 1.5 MW at multiple locations of ITI, including Naini, Rae Bareli, Mankapur (Gonda), Palakkad, and Bengaluru, are planned to be commissioned within this financial year.
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) to provide its techno-financial expertise in developing renewable energy projects and fundraising. IREDA will undertake a techno-financial study of renewable energy, green hydrogen, green ammonia, energy efficiency, and conservation projects for BVFCL. IREDA will assist BVFCL in developing an action plan to create and acquire renewable energy projects for the next five years.
U.S.-based clean energy company Altus Power and Shell New Energies US have announced a partnership to offer integrated renewable energy and storage solutions. The collaboration will combine Altus Power’s experience across solar generation, storage, and community solar with Shell’s expertise in electric mobility, stationary battery storage, load management, and renewable power supply. The companies said they would examine the potential of developing a fully integrated renewable energy supply and onsite energy services for customers.
bp is planning a new large-scale green hydrogen production facility in the northeast of England to deliver up to 500 MWe (megawatt electrical) of hydrogen production by 2030. To be developed in multiple stages, HyGreen Teesside is expected to match production to demand and build on experience to drive down costs. bp aims to start production by 2025, with an initial phase of some 60MWe of installed hydrogen production capacity. A final investment decision on the project is expected in 2023. HyGreen Teesside is expected to fuel the development of Teesside into the U.K.’s first major hydrogen transport hub, leading the way for large-scale decarbonization of heavy transport, airports, ports, and rail.
Gas pipeline company Snam eyes €23 billion (~$26 billion) of investment opportunities over the next nine years as it boosts spending to get its network ready for hydrogen and the transition to cleaner energy sources. The company said the investments would help it drive its earnings from next year to the end of the decade by 6% to 8% per year as it looks to become net carbon neutral by 2040. It said it was planning to spend around €3 billion (~$3.40 billion) to repurpose a 2,700 km network to transport the hydrogen from the south of Italy to the north for export into high-energy demand regions such as Germany.
