The award was presented by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari to senior company officials at the third edition of India Green Energy Award 2020 by the Indian Federation of Green Energy.

Chennai: Two and three wheeler major TVS Motor Company has bagged the ‘India Green Energy Award’ as part of it being recognised as an ‘outstanding renewable energy user’. The award was presented by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari to senior company officials at the third edition of India Green Energy Award 2020 by the Indian Federation of Green Energy. The company, in a press release said, the award is as an acknowledgement of the company’s efforts to increase the usage of alternative power sources in renewable energy to ensure long-term energy security and stability.

TVS Motor said the company has managed to reduce power consumption by 15 per cent and specific fuel consumption by 20 per cent over the years. The company has augmented its 5.9 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic capacity and invested in wind power of 35 MW in Group Captive Mode. In 2020-21, renewable energy contributed to 84 per cent of overall company’s power consumption. India Green Energy Awards is an initiative of the Indian Federation of Green Energy to recognize the importance of Green Energy. The jury evaluated 46 participants across sectors for the award, the release added.
