After completing the project on promoting ‘Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies in the Building Sector’ for the Government of Bhutan, WISE was awarded a second project by the Bhutan government for development of Energy Efficiency Codes of Practice for the industrial sector.
The Government of Bhutan published its Energy Efficiency Policy and Roadmap in 2019 which comprises different time-bound activities and targets for achieving reduction in energy consumption targets. Under this policy, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, through the Department of Renewable Energy (DRE), proposed the development of energy efficiency codes of practice. The main objective is to meet the national targets of achieving energy consumption reduction in the industries. The project scope includes stakeholder consultations, industry visits, drafting the energy efficiency codes of practice and providing training to the industries. The project is currently ongoing.
