The Centre for Regulation and Policy was appointed by the Gujarat State Energy Generation Ltd (GSEG), for providing assistance in carrying out a pre-feasibility study for setting up a solar-wind hybrid power plant at Gujarat Pipav Power Company Ltd’s (GPPC’s) natural gas-based combined cycle power plant located at Village Kovya, Rajula Taluka, Amreli district in the state of Gujarat.

The proposed location is very close to the Gulf of Khambat and hence blessed with very good wind and solar resources availability. The study shall assess the techno-economic feasibility of setting up solar/ wind /solar-wind hybrid power projects under the prevailing policy and regulatory framework laid down by the state / central government.

The WISE team visited the site and submitted the pre-feasibility study to GPPC which covers analysis for optimal mix and potential locations for solar and wind projects, estimated generation from the hybrid system, the estimated tariff for the hybrid system, power evacuation options, regulatory and policy provisions in Gujarat along with risks associated with the project.
